The building and its history
For Peters Brauhaus the Peters & Bambeck brewery rebuilt the historic 'Zum Kranz' brewhouse in 1994 into a Cologne-style brewpub in its original style. Today the family-run house is shaped by six differently styled rooms and a courtyard garden, and calls itself 'the friendly brewhouse'. As an address with a long brewing tradition it is also a stop on Cologne's Brauhauswanderweg, which follows the traces of the city's historic breweries and brewhouses.
Peters Kölsch
The Peters Kölsch brand poured here goes back to a brewery (Peters & Bambeck) founded in 1847 in Monheim am Rhein; older glasses even carry the year 1262 as a reference to the brewing tradition there. The historic brewery in Monheim was given up in 2004; today Peters Kölsch is brewed at Früh in Cologne. Since 2023 the Peters am Hahnentor house on Hahnenstraße, with up to 180 seats, has complemented the original house in the old town.
