History and endowment
The fountain was created in 1913 on Theophanoplatz to a design by the sculptor Georg Grasegger. It was funded not by the city but by the Rheinisch-Westfälische Bank für Grundbesitz, a property bank that donated the fountain to the square. Today the work is a listed monument.
