History
A predecessor building was given by Archbishop Heribert to Deutz Abbey in 1009. The Romanesque church itself was built in the 12th century, and around 1300 it was recorded as a parish church in the liber valoris. After two fires had damaged the building, the old nave was demolished and replaced between 1780 and 1785 by a plain hall structure. Today the parish church of Zündorf is St. Mariä Geburt. Together with St. Michael in Zündorf and St. Nikolaus in Westhoven, St. Martin is one of the three small Romanesque churches in Porz.
Furnishings
The church holds a baptismal font dated to around 1500. A 17th-century sculptural group depicts Saint Martin on horseback dividing his cloak. In the tower chapel, a fragment of an altar slab from the second half of the 12th century is mounted on the wall. Along the church's exterior facade, numerous gravestones from the 17th and 18th centuries are displayed.
