Branch to Chorweiler
Since 1977, the S-Bahn line to Köln-Chorweiler has split off from the main line at Longerich. In 1985 it was extended to Köln-Worringen.
Train Services
The station is served by line S 11 of the S-Bahn Köln. During the morning and afternoon peak, the S 6 of the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr also stops here. The RE6 and RE7 services use tracks 1 and 4 and pass through without stopping. As a result, trains are scheduled to stop only at tracks 2 and 3.
Bus Hub
Line 127 to Ebertplatz and the on-demand taxi bus 180 to Sparkasse Köln-Ossendorf start and terminate here. Line 121, running between Neusser Str./Gürtel and the Langel ferry, and line 125, running between Weiler and Pulheim-Sinnersdorf, call at the station along their routes. Thanks to this many bus services, the station plays a central role in connecting the districts in the north and northwest. The KVB light rail network, by contrast, can only be reached via the Longericher Straße stop on line 15, 1.1 km away.
History of the Building
An earlier building stood on the site of today's station building as far back as 1855. It was demolished in the 1930s to make way for a new structure, whose station concourse was completed in 1934.
The Station Today
Apart from ticket machines, the concourse no longer offers any facilities for travelers. The former retail space now sells bicycles. A few parking spaces and bike racks are available on the forecourt, while the park-and-ride lot is located across the street.
