KAP686 Skateplaza

KAP686 sits right on the banks of the Rhine in the Rheinauhafen, at the so-called Kap am Südkai in Cologne's Südstadt district. The facility is laid out as a plaza for street skateboarding and is open to the public. It is one of the established meeting points of the Cologne skateboarding scene and has also hosted events such as the Team Kap Contest.

KAP686 is run by DOM Skateboarding e.V., an association dedicated to preserving and promoting movement culture in public space. Its stated purpose is to foster skateboarding culture in Cologne and the surrounding area – in particular by maintaining and creating public places and sports facilities for contemporary street skateboarding. The association advises the city and other institutions on the design and location of modern skateboarding facilities and acts as a point of contact for press and politics regarding the Cologne skateboarding scene.

The skate plaza lies centrally on the Rhine in the Rheinauhafen, making it easy to reach from both the city centre and the Südstadt. Its setting right by the water, surrounded by the modern harbour architecture, makes it a lively gathering spot well beyond skateboarding itself.
