District

Ehrenfeld

Part of borough Ehrenfeld

Ehrenfeld lies in the west of Cologne and, together with the surrounding city district 4, forms a quarter that has belonged to Cologne since 1888. Once a working-class and industrial area, it now blends Gründerzeit townhouses, industrial landmarks – above all the Helios tower – and post-war apartment blocks. Its shopping streets are shaped by Turkish, Asian and African businesses, while a lively cultural scene of theatres, restaurants and trendy bars makes the neighbourhood an increasingly popular place to live.
