District
Dünnwald
Part of borough Mülheim
Dünnwald is a district in Cologne's Mülheim borough, situated in the far northeast where it borders Bergisch Gladbach and Leverkusen as well as the neighbouring districts of Dellbrück, Höhenhaus and Flittard. It stretches from a former Rhine dune up to the edge of the heath terrace, an outline that has essentially remained unchanged since the Middle Ages. Thanks to its elevated position, Dünnwald stayed dry even when the Rhine flooded the lower-lying fields during high water.
