Wasserski Langenfeld

Langenfeld (Rheinland) · Surrounding area of Cologne

Set between Cologne and Düsseldorf, the Wasserski Langenfeld cable park has been pulling riders across its lake since 1976 – today one of the world's largest, with six cable lines, an obstacle park and a standing wave.

Swimming

In the heart of the Rhineland, at Baumberger Straße 88 in Langenfeld and almost exactly halfway between Cologne and Düsseldorf, sits one of the largest wakeboard and water-ski cable parks in the world. Its operator confidently bills it as the „world's largest water-ski facility" – and on a warm summer day, watching riders glide across the lake, it is easy to see why the spot has long been a regional landmark.

The lines

The six cable systems are the beating heart of the park. Advanced riders and professionals carve their laps on the four large lines, while the two smaller mini lines ease newcomers into the feel of standing on a board. From a first tentative try to ambitious training sessions, everyone finds their own pace.

Obstacle park & standing wave

Wakeboarders will find an obstacle park with a range of features and elements for practising tricks and jumps. Anyone who prefers to ride without a tow can test themselves on the standing wave, surfing on the spot – a taste of the sea in the middle of inland Germany.

From water-ski to wakeboard

The story begins in 1976 with the first cable line, back then entirely geared towards classic water-skiing. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, skurfers and directional boards appeared, before the first wakeboard – the „Flight 69" model – firmly established the new trend. The park's 50th anniversary was captured in the film „Forever Summer".

Beyond the water

Around the lake, a day of sport turns into a day out: the „Seehaus" restaurant offers lake views, joined by a beach bar, a snack bar and a shop. A beach-volleyball court, bookable picnic areas and camping options for both short and long stays invite you to linger.
