The Klettenbergpark in the district of the same name is an around 6-hectare elevated park that garden director Fritz Encke laid out from 1905 to 1907 as a natural garden in a 10-metre-deep former gravel pit.

A hidden idyll

Encke used the level differences of the gravel pit for a romantic natural garden with ponds, streams and lush planting. Winding paths, small rocky sections and watercourses make the Klettenbergpark one of Cologne's most charming and most overlooked parks – a true green hideaway.
