Blücherpark

A strictly geometric people's park in Nippes from 1913 – with a pond, play lawn and Baroque-style avenues, designed by Fritz Encke.

The Blücherpark is an 18.4-hectare people's park in the Bilderstöckchen district (Nippes). Laid out in 1911–1913 to plans by garden architect Fritz Encke, it was the first municipal park for the then industrial suburbs of Ehrenfeld and Nippes.

A park like a Baroque garden

Unlike the gently curving Vorgebirgspark, the Blücherpark is strictly symmetrical and recalls the garden designs of the Baroque era. A grand central axis links a polygonal water basin with a fountain, broad lawns and avenues lined with plane and lime trees. The many concrete spheres at the path junctions are striking. A large play lawn and the pond make the park a popular destination for families and anyone seeking relaxation.
