The present-day Aurora Mill in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg was built in 1897 by Georg Plange as the largest mill on the continent.

Cologne-Deutz and the Auer Mill

In Deutz, Kurt Kampffmeyer Jr. bought the Auer-Großmühle in 1975 and merged it with the Ellmühle. The purchase brought the Aurora brand into the fold. The company's headquarters, however, are in Hamburg.

From Potsdam via Berlin to Hamburg

Kurt Kampffmeyer Sr. led his father's business into milling, first in 1915 by buying the Potsdam steam mill. After the company moved its seat to Berlin in 1922, it grew by taking over long-established mills and silo operations. After the Second World War, sites in Potsdam, Jarmen and Pritzwalk, among others, were lost. The headquarters moved to Hamburg by way of Hameln. Later the head office was in Landshut, from where it returned to Hamburg in 1990. When it was moved to Landshut is not documented.

Brands and Their Origins

From 1949, Kurt Kampffmeyer Jr. continued expansion in West Germany, for example with the 1973 merger with Duisburger Mühlen AG. A majority stake in Vereinigte Kunstmühlen (VK) Landshut Rosenheim AG brought the Rosenmehl brand from Landshut in 1974. Aurora from Cologne was followed later by Diamant and Gloria. In 1999, the Hamburg-based BM Bäckermühlen AG was incorporated.

The Aurora Mühle in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg was built in 1897 as the largest mill on the continent at the time. Today it produces household flours, semolinas and baking mixes under the Aurora, Diamant and Gloria brands. The Hildebrandmühlen in Frankfurt's Osthafen are the largest grain mill in Hesse. The Hildebrandmühlen Mannheim are Germany's largest durum wheat mill and supply mainly pasta production. The Rosenmühle, founded in 1898, was rebuilt in Ergolding between 1974 and 1976. Its current milling volume is only incompletely documented.

From Stock Corporation to GmbH

In 1983 the company became Vereinigte Kunstmühlen Aktiengesellschaft and took over Kampffmeyer Mühlen GmbH Handelshaus E. Kampffmeyer. In 1990 it was renamed VK Mühlen AG, and the Rosenmühle became Rosenmühle GmbH. In 2004 today's GoodMills Group became majority shareholder. In October 2014 a change of name created GoodMills Deutschland GmbH.
