Hansa High-Rise

One of Germany's first high-rises, from 1925 on the Hansaring – a listed masterpiece of brick Expressionism.

The Hansa High-Rise on the Hansaring is one of Germany's first high-rise buildings. The office block, built in 1924–1925 in the Expressionist style, is today a listed monument.

A brick pioneer

The Hansa High-Rise was built astonishingly quickly – in just 135 working days, faster than comparable American structures. On completion the massive Expressionist brick building was for a short time the tallest in Europe. Today it is a striking architectural monument on the Cologne Ring road.
