Water, mosaic and light
The Cologne artist Jürgen Hans Grümmer designed the round fountain with colourful ceramic and glass mosaics, once lit by underwater spotlights. A tall jet forms the centre, while further nozzles spray the water in a wreath. The Opera Fountain is an important example of the square and fountain art of post-war modernism.
