Zülpicher Quarter

'Zülpicher Viertel' is not an official name but what locals call the Rathenau Quarter when they mean its lifeline: Zülpicher Straße. Named in 1883, it follows the course of an ancient Roman road that once led out of the city towards Zülpich. Today the stretch between Zülpicher Platz and the Südbahnhof is the nightlife hub for everyone aged 20 to 35 — densely built with Wilhelminian houses whose ground floors are packed with bars, cafés and restaurants. It is the same area officially called the Rathenau Quarter.
