Rose Monday

Rose Monday is the Monday before Ash Wednesday and is regarded as the climax of carnival, especially in the Rhineland. On this day the large Rose Monday processions take place, with floats, marching bands and costumed groups. Although not a public holiday, everyday life largely comes to a standstill in the carnival strongholds.
