Imperial Recess of 1803

The Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 was the last major decree of the Holy Roman Empire. It dissolved numerous ecclesiastical principalities and free imperial cities and transferred their lands to secular rulers (secularisation and mediatisation), fundamentally redrawing the territorial map of Germany.
