middle terrace

In geomorphology, a middle terrace is a middle-height level of a river valley that a river built up during an earlier glacial period and that was later exposed by further downcutting. Terraces are usually divided into lower, middle and main terrace. On the Lower Rhine many places lie on such flood-free middle terraces.
