Land Peace

In the Middle Ages, a Land Peace was a sworn agreement, established by rulers or estates, that outlawed private acts of violence (feuding) and required disputes to be settled through legal means. Such agreements were intended to establish lasting security within a territory. Their charters are among the most important legal sources of the period.
